Wearing It Now: Tomboy Sundae with a Cherry on Top

Wearing It Now: Tomboy Sundae with a Cherry on Top

Essential to dressing on the double is stocking your wardrobe with a few pieces that really put an exclamation point on the outfit, and in this case a rather red exclamation point. These loafers were a recent purchase and I am utterly smitten. I have always loved loafers but never wore them much because the ones I had weren’t comfortable. This pair is comfortable, sturdy, and timeless. With plenty of room in the toe box I could even get away with wearing trouser socks with them when it gets cold out. Read More

On the Double Travels: London

On the Double Travels: London

This summer the Mister and I took our first international trip sans babies to London and while there were some tears (solely on my end) leaving the boys with their grandparents it was an absolutely fabulous and much needed getaway. Don’t get me wrong, I love my stars and stripes through and through, but in my head I think I am some sort of French/British/New Englander hybrid, so visiting London felt a bit like visiting the motherland of my dreams (this dream will be completed when I make it to Paris.) The history, the culture, the parks, the tea! It was too much. If it wasn’t so hot I might have returned to America covered in tartan wool and vintage fur coats compliments of Notting Hill. Unfortunately, I didn’t nonchalantly run into and take tea with Pippa Middleton, so that just means I need to go back and try again :). On a more realistic note, as I’m still reminiscing on our visit and already imagining up plans for our next trip to England, I wanted to share some travel tips and highlights on London. And if you do find yourself there, lucky you! Read More

When you only have ten minutes to get yourself sorted in the morning, building a functioning wardrobe makes getting dressed in a pinch simple and fun! Here are the 5 style lessons I have learned since becoming a mom. Read More

Fit Bitties

Fit Bitties

I grew up playing sports and have always been a pretty active person. Since graduating from college and retiring my lacrosse cleats, running and interval workouts have been my go to’s for fitness. I’ll throw in a hike, swim, or Bikram yoga class here or there, but running and HIIT workouts work with my schedule so that’s what I do on a regular basis. My motivation to workout is of course to stay in shape, but since becoming a mom in particular it’s mostly driven by the effects it has on my energy level and mental fitness. Plus, when you’re carrying and chasing two toddlers around at once, it helps to be able to keep up with them. Read More

The Apples of my Eye

The Apples of my Eye

To celebrate my beautiful niece’s seventh birthday our family took a trek down route 66 to Hartland Apple Orchard in Markham, VA. I revel being a city mouse but as a Virginia girl born and raised every once in a while I need a good dose of real fresh air and grassy hills. Fortunately, within a 1-2 hour drive outside of D.C. you can make your way to a number of Virginia orchards and vineyards. It makes for a great outing with kids and fury friends who are free to roam the hills. Read More
