I’ve never been that into Valentine’s Day, but seeing as I am always into red why not embrace the Hallmark holiday simply for an excuse to become une fille en rouge and eat even more chocolate than usual? It’s all in the name of romance, right?

As a powerhouse hue, red is always a go-to color for me. Be it a simple splash or full on head to toe dowsing, in my opinion you really can’t go wrong with red. For color-lovers and neutral minimalists alike, this color can be statement making or understatedly chic. I think what I love so much about this color is its versatility and effectiveness.

Time to get your hankies out. The handkerchief neck scarf has deservedly been going strong as the It accessory for the past few seasons. Elegant, edgy, and classic all (literally and figuratively) rolled into one, this accessory packs quite the punch. Like most, if not all trends, the key to successful execution is styling the trend to blend with your own style. I’m definitely half introvert half extrovert in my approach to styling in that part of me wants to stand out, and the other wants to blend in as much as possible. This rings especially true when I’m experimenting with a trendy piece like the handkerchief neck scarf. Wearing it Now: Black, White, and Cabernet

The Mister and I just got back from a trip to California last week. He travels quite a bit for work and I tag along for the good destinations when I can. We spent two days in San Francisco then drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and up Highway 101 to Calistoga in Napa Valley. A packing post will be up on the blog soon, so I won’t go into what was in my suitcase, but wanted to share my favorite look from the trip. After a red-eye back into D.C. followed by a days long Napa hangover (totally worth the pain) I am now recovered from my zombie like state and finally sharing this “wearing it then” post.
