I’ve never been that into Valentine’s Day, but seeing as I am always into red why not embrace the Hallmark holiday simply for an excuse to become une fille en rouge and eat even more chocolate than usual? It’s all in the name of romance, right?

As a powerhouse hue, red is always a go-to color for me. Be it a simple splash or full on head to toe dowsing, in my opinion you really can’t go wrong with red. For color-lovers and neutral minimalists alike, this color can be statement making or understatedly chic. I think what I love so much about this color is its versatility and effectiveness.

And just like that Christmas has come and gone and the New Year celebrations are days away. Now that I’m past my roaring twenties (thank you twin toddlers) I am much more keen on low key New Years Eve festivities typically consisting of a good run with the Mister, our dog, and the boys in the stroller followed by a fondue dinner and bubbly in the evening. Black and White Christmas

Besides decorating the tree, spending countless hours buying and wrapping gifts, and eating and drinking my body weight in cookies and champagne, Christmas movies are without a doubt what really gets me feeling all sorts of merry during the holiday season. Seriously though, growing up it was practically a requirement in my house that we watch Christmas Vacation at least five times during the month of December, and since I’m being honest it was more like ten… So in keeping with my relentless desire to relate my life to all of my favorite movies, come on you know you do too 🙂 , I see no reason why this completely unrealistic and perhaps unhealthy habit need not apply at Christmas. While I love Family Stone, Love Actually, and Elf as much as any pure blooded millennial American woman, while cozied up on the couch watching It’s a Wonderful Life the other night I couldn’t help but be inspired by the beauty of its black and white simplicity.
