Navy and Black

Navy and Black

Growing up dark neutral pairings like navy and black were taboo. It was always either navy or black, black or brown, brown or navy. But as I near the end of my twenties it turns out these exact neutral pairings are anchors in my personal style. Doubling up on neutrals actually brings out the best in both colors. Black and navy in particular because both play the perfect canvas for one another. The navy becomes more rich and jewel toned, and the black more crisp and saturated. In my playbook a black and navy combo is one of the most understatedly elegant looks there is. And go figure, it’s French. Read More

Pops of Red

Pops of Red

I don’t have a favorite color per say, but shades of red and blue are hands down my favorite statement colors to wear. I’m not playing favorites here, but because Valentine’s Day is fast approaching I’m putting the spotlight on the color du jour. Classic, feminine, sexy, and powerful, red is perhaps one of the most impactful colors to have in your wardrobe. No matter the item, adding a pop of red adds an understated touch of femme fatale and instantly upgrades a look. Wardrobe Hero: the Holiday Shift Dress

Wardrobe Hero: the Holiday Shift Dress

With Christmas just a week away and New Years Eve around the corner I felt it neccesary to feature my wardrobe hero for the holidays– the shift dress. In the right color and fabric with a sharply tailored cut, the shift dress is perfect for Christmas dinner at your in-laws, happy hour with the girls, a dinner date with your guy, or a holiday party at the club. I love the simplicity of the shift dress’s silhoutte because it allows daintly details like tea length sleeves, a tulip hem, lush fabrics and rich colors to stand out creating an understatedly classic and elegant look. Wearing it Now: Necessary Neutrals

Wearing it Now: Necessary Neutrals

As the temperatures are quickly dropping and the last bits of fall are fading fast it’s time to pile on the layers. I dress in monochrome a lot sticking to one main color scheme, however one of my favorite and coziest ways to layer is different textures in an assortment of neutrals. On a cold, windy day these necessary neutrals mean hats, scarves, knits, coats, and boots in camel wool and canvas, taupe suedes, corduroys, vibrant plaids, and denim. Read More
